It is not about ME!!!
Oh, we had such a rather satisfying day today. We somehow thought it was going to be a rather long day. We had volunteered three hours to packing food for the poor. We knew it might be a bit of a routine but it was nothing like we expected. Let me tell you that you would enjoy this activity with your family and friends if possible.
About approximately a week before, I registered for the FMSC = Feeding Starving Children. A friend had invited us and I always enjoyed the activities that she invites us as it is always for a good cause. I noticed that she kept promoting this event and finally registered to attend. I was a bit upset when I thought it was going to coincide with another activity. It did not and we were excited to go do something nice for others.
Since it was a Sunday, I realized it will be a full event. I sure did not expect it to be completely full. There was four time slots to choose from. I normally attend Sunday service early but had to attend late service. It was supposed to be 6 of us but in the end only two of us was able to attend. I was very happy to see the parking area filling up very quickly. Upon entering the doorway, you can feel the excitement of all the participants. It was great to see many different organization in their colorful T-shirt to proudly represent their selected organization. There were many different churches, several levels of scouts, companies, families and friends.
We were each given a hairnet to keep the place clean and each person as well. We were given specific rules. There were several groups to fill and each group was taken to the area to get their selected work to complete. Each task meant that we need to work as a team and making some new friends. We had gloves and sanitizer on our workplace. With our hairnet and gloves in places, it was time to begin working. It really was fun to see families working together on several work space. You can hear the chattering of friends as they work together. It was also a joy to hear others creating friendship as they work together.
You can hear the joy of team as their first box was packed and later the excitement to get as many done contributing to that 5, 0000,000. It was so much fun while doing the work but it was so fulfilling knowing it will make others happy and we were able to make it happen. No more hunger for some. The more we can do the better as more children will survive. And then it was over, much too quickly to our amazement!
Don’t forget you can donate towards the cause in your love’s name and make others happy besides your and your love one. Make a difference in others’ life. 62000 children dies each day with hunger, would you like to make a difference? It is not about ME!!!
We were so happy and felt satisfied with our evening. It was so much fun besides the fact that we were helping others. We made some new people and had some laughter besides dancing a bit. It was quite a fulfilling event. I hope next year to encourage some more family and friends to do this event. I surely will find it challenging to go more than once. I hope you will go at least once and look forward to seeing your there next year. Check out the FMSC.org to see how you can make a difference. Really a family event if you decide to go, will you? Let us know.
